On Fish, Fevers, and First Apartments

I'm sorry for the delay between blog entries; I just got home from a house hunt in Toronto. The first thing I'll say about this is how ridiculous the housing market is downtown. Every night, we made a list of potential places to see and the next morning our realtor would show up with an apology - on one occasion *all* of my potentials had sold before I got the chance to see them! Crazy. My Dad and I had a great time making it our mission to find listings before they went off the market. Of course we were ecstatic to discover two gorgeous listings side by side in converted factories on Queen West. So excited, in fact, that we're putting an offer in on one of them today! I can't wait to post some pictures up here for you to see <3

Unfortunately, I was so caught up in the excitement that I finally succumbed to the wicked flu that's been going around. I have low blood pressure at the best of times but I was beyond weak when we were wandering around. When we walked into the loft that we're now bidding on I got so excited that, combined with my fever, pounding heart, and empty stomach (get this): I passed out. Can you imagine? How embarrassing! My mother, who sadly couldn't come, told me that when I found the right place "I'd just know". My body certainly pointed a few things out ^~

On a much more somber note, when I returned home I discovered that my betta fish had died. It was a horribly tragic death as well: his heater, regulating his water temp to 80 degrees, malfunctioned. The water temperature must have skyrocketed and my poor boy was belly-up when I went to see him. Do any of you have fish? I don't know how to explain why he meant so much to me. He recognized me and would flare his gorgeous fins when I walked into the room, kept me company while I was studying from his spot on my desk. He'd follow my pen around when I wrote..*sigh* I'll certainly miss him.

Anyway, enough about that. Update coming as soon as I'm feeling better and have more news on the loft purchase!
